Green Inferno (review)

Writer/director Eli Roth set audiences on edge with his brand of brutal torture flix like “Hostel,” so expectations were high for this cannibal adventure (a tribute to the Italian genre). A group of college activists travels to the Amazon rain forests to protest the destruction of a tribe, but end up being their meals. Several members of the expedition are quickly, wincingly dispatched when their plane crashes and the first native chow down produces some “delicious” squeamish shocks. From then on, it’s lame violence, pitiful performances and a ridiculous plot. Roth fans expecting a gorefest will feel slighted.
