We hear a local photog was was recently in NYC shooting stills for “30 Rock,” which featured guest stars David Schwimmer and Al Gore.
The key players of Full Stop Films have relocated here from New York. They recently produced a music video for Blue Line Highway that was shot in Oregon Hill and their company did an indy feature 2 years ago. They’re hoping to do more music videos and develop another feature to be shot in Richmond.
The Richmond Ad Club will host its 2nd casino night, “Ghouls Gone Wild,” 10/26 at The Science Museum. This is a costume event and fundraiser for the Harry Jacobs Scholarship.

They’re NOT going out of business, just adjusting how it works. Pyramid Studios is as strong as ever, but Bruce and Dixie have decided to eliminate the rest of their staff. Thanks to technology, they can do much of the work themselves (but will still need specialized talent on a project basis).
As a result, there’s Office or Studio Space for rent (furnished with utilities) in their Scott’s Addition location (near Broad and Boulevard). It’s ideal for self-employed or small companies and includes reception and kitchen area. Contact Dixie Hornstein (353-0700).
The Virginia Production Alliance is presenting “Incentives 101,” a presentation on the kinds of financial incentives offered by states to attract production. Mary Nelson from the Virginia Film Office will speak on 10/17, 6:30 pm at Artworks (320 Hull St). $5, free to VPA members. NOTE: If you join the VPA at any remaining VPA event this year, your membership will be valid for all of 2008.
Kirk Schroder has been elected as Chair of the 4,000-member American Bar Association Entertainment And Sports Law Section (his two-term starts in 2009). He was also recently listed in “Best Lawyers in America” in entertainment law for the 2nd year in a row.

The local winners of the 48-Hour Film Project (Lucas Krost and his team) recently passed the second round of judging. They’ll now create a new short for the international competition and have a chance to be screened at Cannes.

With the City Hall ruckus between the School Board and the Mayor, the old 14-th floor facility, where I produced video for 10 years, has moved to the Richmond Technical Center. A remodeled electrical trades classroom has a 24’ x 24’ studio, 2 edit suites and 3 student editing stations. Bill Thornby is still running things.

DeeDee Ray has moved around the corner from Rainmaker to Thoughtstream to take on operational duties, because facility manager Kathleen Mueller is assumimg new technical duties.
