DOCS ISN’T SHORT FOR DOCUMENTARIES
Not in this case, anyway.
The Virginia Department of Health wanted help in recruiting doctors, dentists and other healthcare professional. If they work in underserved areas, they earn credit on their medical school loans.
In addition to selling the state, we profiled three current practitioners. Since two were located in Chincoteague and Wythe County, it was more cost effective (and cooler) to take state-owned planes to the locations. (VITA producer Charlie Reilly arranged it.)
After gathering stock footage (some of which dated back to the ‘70s) the footage was edited into a dynamic recruitment tool that’s used at meetings and on their website.
