DRESSING UP HEADS
How do you creatively dress up talking heads? Brannon Hitt from Suntrust had a project that featured five people being interviewed in front of a green screen. He needed to turn it into an attractive production that explained SunTrust’s involvement with Manpower and VCU in increasing the utilization of disabled workers.
He called Park Group and they called me. After editing the interviews and meeting with the client, a structure started to emerge. I wrote a brief script to weave the elements together, but we needed a way to make the background interesting.
The approach was to shoot three people in silhouette (one in a wheelchair, one with a cane and one using sign language). They were combined into a dynamic animation by Park’s Dave Swain. I added logos and moving graphics in the Avid to give the interviews another layer. A few energetic music cuts added energy.
We turned what could have been a parade of talking heads turned into a dynamic informational video.
