ENCOURAGING INVOLVEMENT
The American Cancer Society’s annual Relay for Life is the largest single fund-raising event in the country. The local chapter wanted to encourage previous Team Leaders to re-up and they called Park Group to help them. Park asked me to write, direct and edit.
I kept the script simple and straightforward:
- Reflect on the fun and importance of the event
- Thank the Leaders for their past involvement
- Encourage them to volunteer
WCVE’s local host May Lily Lee gave a morning of her time to be the on-camera narrator. She presented the basic message. We included interviews with volunteers and cancer survivors to add the personal touch, while emphasizing the worth of the Leaders.
The local response was so strong that they’ve requested the option to re-version it for wider use.
