FROM CAKE DECORATORS TO ASTRONAUTS
What do a relay team, a pianist, a cake decorator and an astronaut have in common?
Capital One places associates who demonstrate remarkable results in the Circle of Excellence. When Ray Mullins wanted to laud these folks at a special event, he called me to produce the video.
The obvious approach is to highlight Excellence with great achievements, but they wanted to keep it grounded in their operation. I combined references to several kinds of general excellence (see above) with Capital One’s daily activities. Transition from a piano keyboard to a computer keyboard. Transition from a track relay team to a business meeting. You get the idea.
Gene Rhodes shot the stylized studio clips using dramatic colored lighting. Create combined the elements and added a moving background and 3D animated logo. Jody Body spiced up the music with killer sound effects.
The final outcome was a video that made the associates feel great about their accomplishments and made the client happy.
