RETRO FUN

RETRO FUN

Although all of the clients for a recent Capital One project weren’t even born, they could still appreciate the homage that I suggested. The Payments team wanted to celebrate their growth, so Ray Mullins asked me to script and direct.

I suggested a spoof on the 50s horror movie trailers: shot in black and white with an over-the-top announcer and graphics. For the interviews, DP Gene Rhodes created stark lighting and dramatic backgrounds. We also had fun shooting associates “screaming in terror” and “laughing diabolically.”

Capital One editor George Louden added lots of hokey graphics and spinning images and Jody Boyd topped it off with exaggerated music and plenty of screams. The result (even to the young) was a terrifically popular hoot!

The end?
