RICHMOND TO BOMBAY
Actually, it’s called Mumbai now, but most people don’t know that.
Cadmus KnowledgeWorks is a major publisher of STM (scientific/technical/medical) journals. They’ve recently added a facility in Mumbai, India to supplement their operations.
Cadmus called up Emergence Labs to handle the project and Emergence called Park Group. The objective was to show the seamless integration of their US facilities with the one in India. This meant shooting one day in Richmond, then travelling half way around the world for the second day.
Since we wanted to the visual style between the countries to be identical, DP Dave Park made the trip with me. We used a person in Mumbai to hire the small crew and obtain the equipment, including a camera there that effectively scans their computers (which scan at a lower refresh rate). We arrived after midnight and were at the location by 8:30 the next morning. There to greet us was an eager crew of seven!
After transferring the footage from PAL to NTSC, I cut the show in Richmond. Brian Harrell had the job of using the beautiful illustration from Cadmus’ brochure and bringing it alive for video.
The result is a stylish video that tells the story of two continents in one seamless package.
