After a long and courageous fight, Liz Marks succumbed to cancer on Sunday. I knew her back when she was an actor/singer, long before she made her mark on Richmond with Uptown Talent. She was always bigger than life and full of energy. Her work and support for Richmond’s production community has made a difference. Tuesday (5 – 8) the family will receive friends and the funeral will be held at noon on 7/9, (both at Bliley’s Funeral Home, 3801 Augusta Ave). There will also be graveside service (everyone invited) at Berea Baptist Church, 15421 Pouncey Tract Rd, Rockville. After the ceremony, the family will receive friends at Tracy Marks residence (4309 Northwich Court, Midlothian).

As promised last week, here are changes at Park Group. Jennifer Brooks is leaving to work with Lee Johnson’s staging company. Sheila Thompson will be the new director of operations. Bill Gaff & Tian Hughes are both leaving and Nick Kleczewski has signed on as an editor.

Meanwhile, Brian Bartusiak and Heather Garrett have left Metro Productions to work at Studio Center in Virginia Beach.

Bill Thornby, who took my place doing production at Richmond Public Schools in 1989, just retired last week. This means they’ll be advertising a position there in the coming weeks. (It’ll be on this link.) Meanwhile, Bill will be teaching editing and computer skills at home and taking editing jobs.
