Krampus (review)

Start with a dysfunctional family gathering for the holidays (nothing original there) and toss in a mythological malevolent Nordic creature (hoping for a horror twist). Some might argue that this is an over-the-top comedy, except that it’s never funny (such lame gags as a crusty old lady, fat kids and rednecks) and the ultimate attack is more ridiculous than amusing (evil clowns, elves and gingerbread cookies). While it’s paced well enough and has a decent cast (Adam Scott, Conchata Ferrell, Toni Collette), the ludicrous story and lame effects deserve a heaping bag full of coal.
