ROMA, the much-lauded film by Alfonso Cuarón that just won 3 Oscars (Best Foreign Film, Best Director, Best Cinematography) was controversial because it was an online-only Netflix production. It did have a limited theatrical release last year that didn’t include Richmond. To boost Oscar awareness, it played for the last 2 weekends at the Byrd Theatre. It will play again this weekend with 2 matinees Saturday and Sunday at 1:30.

What a difference between watching this film on TV vs the way it should be seen on a movie screen.
