Stupid Fucking Bird is loosely based on Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull, but that shouldn’t scare away anyone averse to the Russian playwright. Director Jon Kretzu, who made his Richmond directorial debut with last season’s The Lion in Winter, talked about the name of the play, the “dramedy” approach that has its roots in Checkov and the unusual staging of this production.

The Quill Theatre production plays at Richmond Triangle Players (1300 Altamont Ave) 1/8-30. In case you hadn’t noticed, there is adult fucking language.
